Spanish and me

Growing up in the area that I grew up in, Spanish was an obvious choice for a second language. Almost everybody in our neighborhood spoke it, and I can honestly say that back then, I would have considered myself bi-lingual. Well, I moved when I finished high school and all of my Spanish speaking ability disappeared. I guess it’s true what they say: “if you don’t use it, you lose it.”

Well, as I have gotten older I have started to develop a desire to relearn what I used to know. That and I really miss the Spanish / Mexican culture. Growing up, I had a lot of Hispanic neighbors and will never forget watching soap operas and travel shows broadcast from Mexico. They have a completely different outlook on what makes good TV than we do, and it’s something I miss. Not only are their syndicated television shows better, but let me tell you something. You haven’t watched a soccer game until you’ve seen a soccer game announced by Latino announcers. They bring a level of passion to the game that no American announcer could ever even think about bringing. I can’t even watch soccer on American TV, but I can stay glued to a television for hours watching it in Español.  I've also turned my friend Andrew, a huge soccer fan, onto watching it on the Spanish channels.

One way I believe that I could relearn the language that I’ve lost is to start to watch the shows that I used to love in their original language. Not sure where to even look, I stumbled upon an advertisement for Dish Latino. I checked it out, and it looks like one of the tiered packages offers a great assortment of shows broadcast in Spanish as well as in English. Being the cheap person that I am, I had to shop around for the best deal possible. When I was looking for a good deal on Dish Latino, I saw an advertisement that simply said click here. Well, I followed its instructions and found a website that had tons of info on Dish Latino. It had quite an extensive list of current Dish Latino offers, and I think it’s safe to say I stumbled upon a goldmine. I used one of the offers and needless to say, a Dish representative will be out to install my new satellite next week. I am really looking forward to enjoying my new satellite TV package, and I am REALLY looking forward to watching soccer again.
